Call for Papers – Special Edition: “Africa: memory and development projections”

Organizer: Dr. Rodrigo Corrêa Teixeira (PUC Minas)

Dossier Proposal:

By this thematic dossier, Conjuntura Internacional is interested in articles on the following topics:

1.    African insertion on the Modern World-System;

2.    The political use of past and contemporary ideologies;

3.    The political, social and economic reflections of African diaspora;

4.    Contemporary Geopolitics, models and scenarios for development in Africa.

From the negation of African role on the modern configuration of the International System to the remarkable discoveries on the continent past by Leo Frobenius at the beginning of the 20th century, its historiography was revolutionized by the publication of General History of Africa by UNESCO, since 1964. Therefore, the dossier favors dialogue with this exceptional body of work, in order to emphasize approaches from Africans, as well critical authors from international phenomena that engage with Africa, as:

RODNEY, Walter. How Europe Underdeveloped Africa. London: Bogle-L’Ouverture Publications, 1972.

CLAPHAM, Christopher. Africa and the International System: The Politics of State Survival. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1996.

AMIN, Samir. “Por una estrategia de desarrollo autocentrado en África”. Africa América Latina, cuadernos: Revista de análisis sur-norte para una cooperación solidaria, 1990, nº. 1, p. 27-38.

The article may be written in english, portuguese and Spanish. The norms of publication of Conjuntura Internacional can be accessed on this link

Deadline for paper submissions: March, 31, 2019.

The accepted articles will be published at the v.16, n.1 (2019).
