A aptidão agrícola das terras do município de Machado/MG e a cafeicultura / Land agricultural evaluation in the minicupality of Machado/Minas Gerais and coffee culture

Resumo

A avaliação da aptidão agrícola das terras permite qualificar o potencial produtivo, tornando-se importante fonte de informação para a atividade agrícola. No município de Machado (MG), a aptidão agrícola das terras demonstra que a utilização com cofeeiros ocorre em praticamente todos os tipos de classe, com exceção da classe 4p. O crescimento no cultivo do café proporcionou ocupação territorial com cafezais distribuída por todo o município, sem determinação de áreas específicas. Assim, e como consequência, da mesma maneira ocorreu a ocupação em função da aptidão agrícola. As terras demonstram ser aptas aos cultivos, embora tenham que ser tomadas medidas preventivas quanto à potencial degradação do solo, em função das restrições impostas pelo sistema de manejo.

Abstract

Land agricultural evaluation analyzes the potencial of agricultural production, being an important source of information for land crops. In the municipality of Machado, Minas Gerais State, land agricultural suitability demonstrates that the practice of coffee crops occurs in almost all classes of land suitability for general purposes, with the exception of class 4p (native pasture). The increase of coffee crops distributed throughout the whole municipality, wihtout the selection of specific areas. Consequetly, occupation has taken place according to agricultural suitability. The land seems to suit coffe crops, although preventive measures should be taken to avoid  soil degradation, in function of the limitations of the employed technological systems.
