O Largo Pateo do Collegio e o súbito encanto com o lugar / The “Largo Pateo do Collegio” and the sudden allurement to the place

Resumo

Com base na Geografia Humanista, neste artigo apresenta-se o Pateo do Collegio (o lugar) a partir de uma perspectiva de encantamento, de aproximação afetiva, procurando esclarecer que a escolha do Pateo enquanto lugar de pesquisa não foi feita por conta de suas qualidades históricas ou de local sagrado, mas, por causa de um repentino fascínio sentido quando, durante um momento de flanar e deixar-se perder pelo Centro Histórico da cidade de São Paulo, espontaneamente descobriu-se o lugar. O encanto sentido subitamente suscitou a vontade de conhecê-lo empiricamente, mas também geográfica e historicamente. Ao percorrê-lo diversas vezes, descobriu-se nomes distintos, usos variados e um ritmo diurno-noturno muito bem delineado. Apresenta-se indícios a respeito da essência histórica e simbólica do lugar, ao mesmo tempo em que se buscou revelar os aspectos que o tornam um lugar de acolhimento, mas, também emblemático. Ao final, espera-se demonstrar a importância dos lugares para a vida, ao mesmo tempo em que motive o reconhecimento da importância do sentido de lugar como mobilizador da existência e das experiências humanas.

Abstract

Based on the Humanistic Geography, this article presents the Pateo do Collegio (the place) from a charming perspective, affective approach, seeking to clarify the choice of Pateo as a place of research was not made because of its historical qualities or sacred site, but because of a sudden fascination sense when, during a time of strolling and let yourself lose the historic center of the city of São Paulo, spontaneously discovered the place. The charm sense suddenly raised the desire to know it empirically, but also geographically and historically. To go through it several times, we find different names, different uses and a daytime-night rhythm very well designed. Here clues as to the historical and symbolic essence of the place, while it sought to reveal the aspects that make it a place of welcome, but also emblematic. At the end, we hope to demonstrate the importance of the places for life at the same time motivate the recognition of the importance of the sense of place as a mobilizer of existence and of human experiences.
