Dinámicas de ciudades/región transfronterizas en América del Norte y China: Tijuana-San Diego y Zhuhai-Macao como casos de estudio

Cross-border city/region dynamics in North America and China: Tijuana-San Diego and Zhuhai-Macao as case studies

Resumo

Uma das principais características da globalização é que ela não apenas causou uma permeabilidade crescente nas fronteiras estaduais em termos da Vestfália, mas também levou à reestruturação das articulações entre o local e o internacional, através dos chamados de espaços transfronteiriços. Mas o que motiva a construção de cidades / regiões transfronteiriças? A hipótese que apoiamos é que a construção de cidades / regiões transfronteiriças encontra sua principal motivação mais em termos de proximidade geográfica no quadro da globalização da qual derivam a dinâmica econômica e comercial, bem como a circularidade migratória, do que em nacionalismos tradicional. Para demonstrar nosso argumento, comparamos os processos de construção das cidades / região de Tijuana-San Diego e Zhuhai-Macau como espaços transfronteiriços. A partir disso, descobrimos que a dinâmica transfronteiriça observada nesses casos não é apenas paradigmática e tem alcance global, mas também é de especial relevância para a América Latina.
