Health Education and E-learning: the use of the Social Network combined with the teaching-learning process of Biosafety in Dentistry

In the exercise of health professions, microorganisms can be transmitted between patients and professionals. Biosafety covers a set of Infection Control procedures that need to be used, whose non-compliance will favor the occurrence of Cross-Infection and, consequently, the transmission of microorganisms. In Health Education, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been used as auxiliary instruments to convey information and knowledge. In view of the importance and relevance of these themes and combining them, in November / 2017 @byebyecteria was created, a page hosted on Instagram® and an extension activity, linked to the Infection Control Commission of the Dentistry Department of PUC Minas, with content produced by students and supervised by teachers of the discipline. @Byebyecteria shares Health Education content in the field of Biosafety, to professionals and academics in the area and also to the population in general. Its methodology is based on the creation of publications prepared in a playful, reflective and interactive format, based on scientific literature, to serve as an alternative source of knowledge acquisition, addressing themes that deserve to be highlighted: immunization, the use of Personal Protective Equipment by professionals in the Health area, dental and hospital waste management, disinfection and sterilization processes used in clinical procedures and more currently on COVID-19 and the necessary adaptations in dental practice in the face of Pandemic, among other issues. Since the beginning, @byebyecteria has led the follower to reflect on each subject addressed, allowing the expression of their questions and doubts, thus generating a positive change in the habits of the academic / professional in their clinical activities. The democratization of knowledge is promoted by making society aware of the possible biological risks to which they are subjected as users of health systems. And, for both parties, a biologically safe service is sought.
