Abstract

This report aims to present how the decision-making process influences the behavior of individuals. Provides a brief review of the theories of Rational Choice and Behavioral Economics. Based on the contributions of these schools and how they define the search for well-being, an outreach action was developed with various social segments in Belo Horizonte/Brumadinho. This activity was developed in the extension discipline of the Economic Sciences course. Through interviews and questionnaires, it was observed how people respond to everyday situations and how this affects the budget balance and income. In the second stage, this same beneficiary public underwent training on Financial and Budget Planning. In the end, a new survey was carried out, indicating how people make better decisions based on the conception of their ideas about how to achieve well-being. Then, these results were applied in an extension experiment carried out in the scope of the university extension project Financial Education and Income Generation in Brumadinho, linked to the PUC Minas, Brumadinho - The work aims to present how the decision-making process influences the behavior of individuals. It’s worth to note that the virtual training processes for beneficiaries made up of elementary and high school students and young adults from the region of Brumadinho and Vale do Paraopeba.
