The objective of this study is to analyze the contribution of alternative sources, as electricity generation bases, along with the poverty reduction process in two locations in the Northeast of Pará between 2018 to 2019. In this perspective, the investigation evaluated electricity generation projects at from solar and biomass sources, in order to identify possible socioeconomic impacts in these locations, resulting from the use of these sources. The methodology was based on 621 interviews in the researched region and used indicators of representation of quality of life, elaborated by Calvert-Henderson. The study found that the implementation of the projects contributed to the reduction of poverty in the surveyed communities and favored, reasonably, the process of sustainable development in the analyzed communities. There was an increase in access to income, accompanied by improvements in the quality of life of those populations, despite the interruptions recorded during the supply of electricity in the analyzed period.
