WHY DO MEN LESS PARTICIPATE IN THE DIVISION OF DOMESTIC WORK? A DISCUSSION FROM YOUR OWN PERCEPTION

This article aims to analyze the perceptions of working men, fathers, married and qualified about the division of domestic activities when compared to the dedication of their female partners who also work. Is a qualitative study, a case study. Twenty-five semi-structured interviews were carried out and analyzed based on content analysis techniques. The work expands the discussion regarding the difficulty of men in seeing the domestic tasks that need to be performed. The findings also add new information regarding the reasons that lead men to participate less in the division of domestic work. The present study expands the debate on social roles, carried out by both men and women, which is of vital importance towards gender equity in the workplace and at home. There is a lack of studies in the area of management that seek to understand the meaning of masculinity from the point of view of men in the current context, exploring the spheres of work, family and how these perceptions reflect on current theories and relations.
