Life is increasingly mediated by formal roles in organizational settings where there are transitions from day-to-day functions involving home, work, and others. There is a flexible and permeable integration between work-family conflict and anxiety. In this research, our objective was to identify whether trait anxiety is an antecedent of the dimensions of work-family conflict. We carried out an applied, quantitative survey research (Survey), in which the data were analyzed by means of a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The hypotheses presented were supported. Trait anxiety is an antecedent of work-family conflict in its dimensions of work-family interference and family-work interference. Work-family interference has a greater impact on trait anxiety than family-work interference. The relationship between work and family affects individual and organizational performance, as well as family functioning, considering that trait anxiety is an antecedent of work-family conflict. Dividing the space that used to be for rest and leisure with work activities has been a challenging task. We identified that the interference dimension of work in the family is the one that most impacts trait anxiety.
