The present study will focus on the film A cidade é uma só? by the filmmaker Adirley Queirós,
who has important works for the cinema in recent years. In his audiovisual productions, he proposes
to investigate the historical perspectives through documentary and fiction representations
("ethnography of fiction"), which are characterized by the landscape and the ethnography of
peripheral territories. In A cidade é uma só? the filmmaker takes as a starting point the Campaign
for the Eradication of Invasions (CEI) and its unfoldings in the daily life of the residents of
Ceilândia, a satellite city in the Federal District. That said, through analyses of both the film and
bibliographical productions related to the theme, the article will seek to discuss the possible
contributions of film production about peripheral places made by residents or collectives, such as
Adirley Queirós in the aforementioned film, to the debate on new areas of knowledge of studies in
cities.
