Abstract

The nursing process, when applied correctly, has a holistic approach and ensures that interventions are designed to the individual and not just the disease. The objective of this research was to identify the obstacles mentioned by nurses to implement the nursing process in Basic Health Units of Belo Horizonte. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, in which we interviewed 22 nurses working in the Basic Health Sanitary District Pampulha in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. When asked about barriers to the use of the nursing process in daily practice, 41% of nurses interviewed indicated the workload as the main reason. About possible solutions, 27% said the training or training on the nursing process as the main solution. It is hoped that this study encourages reflection of nurses and healthcare institutions, on the model of nursing care, looking for alternatives to ensure physical, human and material resources, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge sufficient to provide users with a service dignified and based on the mission of the Primary Health Care.
