Abstract

To investigate the implications of depressive and anxiety disorders in the life of nursing students; Identify basic human needs affected among participants. Qualitative research, which used the sensitive creative method for data collection and the thematic analysis for interpretation of results. Nine undergraduate students from a College of Nursing in southern Brazil participated. Several changes caused by depressive and anxiety disorders in students were identified, including eating disorders, changes in sleep and rest, decreased physical and leisure activities, removal of family and friends and stress relates to academic demands. The study shows the need to reflect on the evaluation of teaching practices, activities and tasks, focusing on student needs in the order to contribute to their well-being and their physical and mental health.
