Abstract

The purpose of this article was to identify the team's vision and knowledge of a materials and ethylene oxide sterilization (ETO) center on the work processes performed. This is an exploratory study with a quantitative approach, in which 18 employees of a materials and sterilization center were interviewed, through a questionnaire. Most demonstrated knowledge of how to perform the steps that involve the process, and a small percentage of professionals have difficulties, as they are undergoing training. It was evident that the company is concerned with worker safety, as all professionals report that they receive PPE’s (Personal Protective Equipment) appropriate to their activities, as well as training on how to prevent accidents at work. Although the majority of the team has mastery over the sterilization process, they still need reinforcements, stressing that those who still need to learn must be accompanied and observed frequently.
