Abstract

This article discussed the dynamics of foreign policy and the escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran, as well as Brazil's insertion in this narrative. The Iranian nuclear program is central to the proposed analysis, as its development has become the main reason for the US sanctions against the Persian country. The escalation of the conflict between the US and Iran has become central to international affairs in recent months, given the important roles of these countries in the international balance. Brazilian mediation in the nuclear program agreements proved to be an important diplomatic tool and, in this sense, it is important to understand how the Bolsonaro administration's approach has changed this scenario.
