Abstract

China is an Asian country with large territorial proportions and even greater demographics. Since the end of the 1970s, the country has been undergoing intense social, political and economic changes, placing the country at the center of several debates in International Relations since then. Given this context, this study deals with the impact of energy dependence for the development of the Chinese automotive industry, especially electric vehicles, in the light of the theory of Complex Interdependence. Therefore, it is argued that the Chinese State, following the logic of a complex interdependence, was directly fundamental to the growth of its national industry, elevating its sector to a global power. The research uses a deep bibliographic and historical review, analysis of public policies and, in a comprehensive way, the analysis of primary and secondary data.
