Abstract

This paper intends to conduct a study-case aiming at the postcolonial theory, especially the assumptions presented by Edward Said, to analyse the circumstance of the rise and permanence of the Islamist group Boko Haram in the Nigerian territory. Thus, it is proposed to understand and develop the colonial influence on the analyzed circumstance, using the assumption of the West's influence over the East, as well as the relationship between imperialist policies and power. The article will address reflexivism arguments using post-positivist, historical, and interpretivist premises, resulting in a critical analysis.
