Abstract

The rise of Shiite militia Hezbollah in 1982, in the midst of Lebanon’s Civil War (1975-1990), indicated a set of deep changes in the sociopolitical setting of Lebanon. Therefore, this paper analyses the performance of the called God’s Party as the promoter of a new national identity in the country, referencing the concept of “State within the State” under the effects of the 2006 War. Thus, the main objective is o identify the impacts of the Party in regards to providing impetus for the lebanese society, as well as its consequences in the political context. To this end, bibliographic review and historic-conceptual analysis were used to comprehend the real extend to the organization’s inference in a new national identity for Lebanon.
