Abstract

The present article seeks to elucidate the criticisms made to Queer Theory in International Relations by post-colonial academics. To this end, a bibliographical review of publications that deal with queer and post-colonial issues in a joint and comparative way is carried out, with emphasis on the works of authors William J. Spurlin, Rahul Rao and Jasbir Puar. Thus, a discussion is promoted regarding what brings both theoretical currents closer, and subsequently, the main points of contention are presented. It is concluded that Queer Theory in IR exhibits colonial and Western biases, requiring a more intersectional analysis by queer theorists for a holistic understanding of the international environment.
