Abstract

This article aims to analyze two of the most relevant "american projects" that emerged in the 19th century: Bolivarianism and Monroism. We started from an analysis of the conceptual principles of each project, highlighting their similarities and divergences through the revision of historical documents that registered the political and cultural climate of its origins. In addition, we analize some of the internal and external interests of the continent that eventually catalyzed or diluted the ideals of each project. Finally, we review the historical events after the emergence of these movements, seeking to understand the bolivarian and monroist praxis that contributed to the reconfiguration of the American geopolitical framework in the 19th and 20th centuries.
