"History to lull great people": decolonial look at Mangueira on the History of Brazil

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the decolonial epistemologies on the History of Brazil built by Estação Primeira de Mangueira in its Carnival in 2019. To this end, a study will be made on the decolonial perspectives, in the construction of the “decolonial turn” and an analysis of these arguments about the construction of the plot, parade and samba in the Mangueira. In which, the central argument of the article, consists in the idea of the School in overcoming the epistemological and hegemonic colonial past of knowledge in the history of Brazil, redefining the historical narrative from oppressed and forgotten actors.Presenting a new knowledge from a decolonial gyration that is willing to build a Brazilian epistemology with regard to its history.
