RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN SCHOOL
A DIFFICULT QUEST
Abstract
Historically religion was in all societies, setting itself as an important aspect of human existence and being the object of study in different periods of history. Present in the life of a large number of people, religion permeates the school also, subjectively and through religious education. This discipline is the center of a problem that accompanies the Brazilian education since the early republican era when it established the separation between church and state. This work addresses the theme: The religious education in school, your purpose is to present the trajectory of religious education in Brazilian education and legislation, highlighting the ideas of defenders and critics of this discipline as well as the characteristics of their current model, defined in the Act and Guidelines for Basic Education (LDB) 1996, as the religious education is based on religion has shown itself to initiate this concept and definitions for some work on the subject, produced in different periods of history. As a pre-requisite of the course of Post-Graduate "Lato-Sensu" conducted by IBF/FACEL, the search began with a relevant literature review, and it was decided to hold a stamp of theoretical work that was also with a search the field at a public school of Serra - ES , where it has been a model of religious education not consistent with existing legislation and guidelines in the State.
