Abstract

The present investigation reports, using the Systematic Search Flow methodology, a
qualitative literature review with the purpose of surveying the prevalence of Paulo Freire's
studies in Brazilian theses and dissertations from 2015 to 2017, regarding Popular Education
in Brazil, specifically in the concentration area of education. It also aimed to highlight the
relevance of Paulo Freire's works and experiences for studies on Popular Education in Brazil
and to draw attention to stereotypes around the educator and demonstrate the importance of
academic-scientific studies, produced at master's and doctoral levels, presenting the Freirean
conception of Popular Education.
