Abstract

Cultural events from popular folklore are crucial for the socio-cultural development of
children and adolescents. This study aims to describe the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic
on the culture and development of children and adolescents in Brazil, especially those from
the Northeast. The specific objectives are limited to identifying the role of the school and the
family in maintaining cultural festivities and to point out the sociocultural losses due to the
suspension of face-to-face classes due to the losses that social restrictions may have caused to
this target audience. The method used is an integrative review in which dialogue is sought
with authors who discuss child development and cultural influences in moments of social
distance. The research was based on the data platforms MEDLINE, SciELO, Google Scholar,
in addition to magazines, books, dissertations and monographs. As a result, it was found that
the institutions family and the school were of great contribution in this context in which they had to innovate and reframe their practices due to the restrictive measures of isolation and
social distance. It was concluded that the attempt to mitigate cultural losses was partially
achieved, as not all students were contemplated due to restrictions on connectivity and access
to social media.
