HOSPITAL PEDAGOGY:
analysis of its insertion in pedagogical projects of courses at federal and state higher education institutions in São Paulo
Abstract
The advances in the segment of hospital pedagogy turned out to be a great achievement. Hospital pedagogy offers pedagogical care to children and young people in illness and is also an important contribution to the family and even to the patient's prognosis. For this reason, training within this area is extremely helpful and necessary. Thus, the objective of the present investigation was to identify if hospital pedagogy is present in the curricular pedagogical projects of federal and state institutions of higher education Pedagogy courses in the state of São Paulo. To conduct this study, a documental research with these pedagogical projects was carried out, investigating if at least one of the terms “hospital” and/or “hospital” and/or at least one of their respective plurals was present in them and how this theme has been essentially constituted in the pedagogy courses of these higher education institutions. After the analyses, it was possible to identify that seven of the eighteen courses presented one of the terms throughout their respective pedagogical project, one of them presenting it in a specific discipline of the area, two in the programmatic content, four in bibliographies, three in the part related to internship, one in the part referring to the workplace and one in the part that mentions that the student must develop assessment skills for programs involving hospitals. It was found that even if hospital pedagogy has specific demands of knowledge in the hospital area, it is not present in most pedagogical projects of the higher education institutions analyzed and, when it is present, it is slightly addressed. The exception is the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), campus of Guarulhos, which, after listening to the students during the reformulation of the pedagogical project, identified the need to include a curricular unit involving the subject. In addition, there are reports in this pedagogical project that the arrival of new teachers led to the expansion of themes. It was also verified that the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP), Campos do Jordão campus, mentions hospital pedagogy as part of the discipline that involves teaching and learning in environments outside the regular school. Therefore, in view of these results, it is suggested that, in future reformulations, the higher education institutions that do not deal with the subject revisit the importance and the need to include the theme in the pedagogical projects of their courses in order to train professionals to better work in the hospital environment, considering the specificities of this work environment, where the role of the pedagogue is extremely relevant, especially for children and adolescents hospitalized during medium to long terms.
