Violência contra mulher e modos de enfrentamento
Abstract
This is a theoretical article about violence against women and the ways to confront it, structured in order to present, firstly, in the Introduction, the profile of violence against women in Brazil and in the world, based on data collected from cross-sectional studies published in scientific articles and institutional pages, especially the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization. Then, a theoretical discussion of violence against women is made, seeking its explanatory bases and possible ways of coping, using the formulations of Symbolic Interactionism and Habermas’s Theory of Communicative Action. Finally, the program Para Elas, Por Elas, Por Eles, Por Nós, from UFMG, is presented. It is inspired by these theories and therefore adopts the development of ‘autonomy praxis’ as a central guideline for approaching women in situations of violence and vulnerability.
