Abstract

This report aims to highlight and analyze the contributions of Community Social Psychology and the perspective of Psychosocial Care with diabetics, based on an experience carried out during the development period of the master's research entitled “Judicialization of public health policies: psychosocial implications for the identity of the person with diabetes mellitus”, carried out in partnership with the “Doce Vida” extension program. In this work, some actions were developed such as: promotion of group activities in the Association of Diabetes Patients of São João Del-Rei (APD-SJDR), home visits and organization of the Free National Diabetes Campaign. These actions made it possible to get closer and exchange knowledge between students, health professionals, members of APD-SJDR and the community, which resulted in greater adherence to the treatment of the disease and implication in self-care by people with diabetes and their families.
