Abstract

Symptoms that are presented to the psychoanalysis today, in particular those that have the body as route of expression, constitute as a stimulus to the theoretical and methodological discussion of its practice. This article proposes to discuss psychosomatic phenomena as a possible solution for the subject´s libidinal economy. For this, it discusses about the symptom beyond hysteria, its relation with the origination of the meaning, or the lack of it, articulating with the Lacanian concept of real. It allowed  that, even running off of a meaning, the psychosomatic phenomenon has a function for the subject, with its genetics linked to the pulsional constitution of the body, a frozen solution, but not being a pure effect of a supposed organic deficit and, therefore, subject to the effects of the psychoanalytic method.
