Abstract

Taking the field of Psychology as a starting point, this article proposes a critical and historicized analysis of political violence in the peasant space, following the propositions of Slavoj Žižek (2014) and Ignácio Martín-Baró (2017) and aiming to circumscribe the specificities of violence that is expressed in the context of The Landless Workers Movement (MST). The study used participant research, based on the experience of three community leaders from settlements in the state of Alagoas. Semi-structured individual interviews and group meetings were used; when working with the data, Thematic Analysis (TA) was used. In this way, the investigation presents the mechanisms of violence that are permeated by sociopolitical issues and the unique way in which it affects and impacts its targets.
