Abstract

This work, based on the work De intellectu et intelligibili by Albert the Great, aims to investigate the nature of human intellect, identifying how Doctor Universalis dedicated himself to this study and how this problem reached its time, the 13th century. The answers that Saint Albert the Great brought about about the nature of the intellect and the problem of knowledge are based on Aristotle's texts about the soul and the interpretations of some Arab philosophers about them.  The originality of St. Albert the Great lies in the fact that he considers that the study of the nature of the intellect and of the intelligible puts into question man himself, who thus comes to know himself, since he himself is intellect.
