This article aims to analyze the conception of human nature revealed in the text The nature of man, one of the fundamental writings of the Corpus Hippocraticum to understand this issue in Hippocratic Medicine. In it, the Humoral Theory is presented, by which it is argued that we are made up of four primary substances, called "humors", which are influenced by the environment. The author's main objective is to support the thesis of a physical and variable human nature, which changes over time, under the action of water, earth, fire and air, the seasons and the ages of the thus making a critique of timeless metaphysical conceptions, as well as the monist pre-Socratic perspective, it is worth mentioning, philosophers and doctors, who defended the composition of human nature by just one substance. According to Polybus, the author of the text, only the understanding of a nature composed of several substances, and not just one, could explain the appearance of diseases, generation, corruption and health itself.
