A mística diz respeito a uma experiência indizível, refere-se a um modo de olhar a vida e a própria existência sob um horizonte transcendental. Autoextermínio seria uma perda deste horizonte na vida. Uma pessoa que atenta contra si mesma estaria atentando contra o peso e o sofrimento que a vida se tornou ao perder seu sentido mais profundo. O objetivo desta pesquisa é estabelecer uma relação entre mística e autoextermínio, balizada pela possibilidade de se afirmar que o autoextermínio pode ocorrer quando da perda do horizonte transcendental da vida.
