Abstract

Este artigo examina a conceituação do ser humano como pessoa na contemporaneidade. Para tanto, considera-se que na bioética a definição de pessoa se torna um tema fundamental no debate. Isso implica contextualizar a bioética em suas relações com as tecnociências e os direitos humanos. A fim de promover esta proposta, recupera-se a tese antropológica e moral de Kant, com o intuito de assinalar um leitmotiv para as teses de Engelhardt Jr. e Sève. Nesse ponto, destaca-se especialmente o estatuto do embrião humano como um desafio comum para os autores desenvolverem suas perspectivas sobre o ser humano como pessoa. Assim, pode-se evidenciar como as teses de Engelhardt Jr. e Sève contribuem para o direcionamento do conceito de pessoa.
