Esta nota tem o objetivo de propor uma interpretação do trecho 43 b do "Timeu", que apresenta, conforme indicado por um comentador, uma significativa dificuldade de tradução. A nossa atenção voltou-se para este excerto enquanto elaborávamos a nossa tese, intitulada "Ensaio sobre a Dinâmica na Cosmologia de Platão", impulsionados pelas pesquisas sobre o significado e o conteúdo da teoria mecânica platônica. A análise deste trecho revelou-se fundamental para a compreensão do modelo mecânico ideal subjacente ao "Timeu", modelo este que parece antecipar o atual princípio da inércia. O propósito desta nota é apresentar e defender uma tradução que esteja em consonância com a interpretação que desenvolvemos acerca deste desafio.
