The purpose of this article is to propose an investigation about recursion according to Corballis, (2014), Cavalcanti (2015) regarding the phenomenon of intertextuality. recategorization in the construction of meaning processes of verbal-visual texts. Our research object was the recategorization in the construction of meaning processes of verbal-visual texts, especially the cartoon due to the XV Pan-American Games held in Rio de Janeiro in 2007. We can observe that publicity advertisements produce meanings by dialoguing with the sociocultural-economic context. Thus, we conclude that multimodal texts provide the reader with new meanings through recursion.
