This paper aims to understand the relationship between the senses and language and, consequently, the embodiment of meaning. For this purpose, I start from the contribution of Bickhard (2008), Mari and Silveira (2010), and Mari (2017) to the study of embodiment in human experiences. Then, following Freitas (n.d.), Nishida (2012), and Kleiner et al. (2011), I discuss concepts such as somesthesia and special senses, exemplifying how these senses are connected to human perception and to meaning, demonstrating the subjectivity of meaning. As a result, considering the essential relationship between body, senses and meaning, the importance of understanding embodiment in Language Studies is emphasized.
