Abstract

This article presents further possibilities for analyzing the relationships established between Iberians and African peoples in the period in which it developed called the Maritime Expansion. Detaching the look of the economic bias, as has traditionally been the proposal of the text is to consider cultural, social and mainly religious aspects to the understanding of the contacts occurred mainly between Portuguese and Africans in Black Africa.

Author Biography

Luciano Borges Muniz, Faculdade Martins (FAMART-Itaúna).

Mestre em Ciências Sociais pela PUC/Minas (2013), especialista em História e Cultura Afro-brasileira também pela PUC/Minas (2008) e graduado em História pela FAPAM - Faculdade de Pará de Minas (2006). Diretor acadêmico da Faculdade Martins - FAMART. Professor do curso de pedagogia. Professor do SESI/FIEMG - Federação das Indústrias do Estado de Minas Gerais, onde também exerce a função de coordenador de Área em Ciências Humanas. Professor da Secretaria de Educação do Estado de Minas Gerais e do Colégio Santana. Possui experiência na área de História, Sociologia e Antropologia. Como pesquisador, atuou no CEPAMM - Centro de Estudos sobre a presença Africana no Mundo Moderno - UFMG, como colaborador e atua no grupo de pesquisa Cultura urbana, modos de vida e identidades - PUC-Minas, onde desenvolve pesquisas relacionadas à Juventude, participação política juvenil e mundo do trabalho.
