(In)formação cooperativista nos cadernos do Cotrijornal

Abstract

Whether as a source or as an object, there are many characteristics that make newspapers great references for historiographical research, as they represent an interpretation of reality, given in a given context, by subjects situated within the complexity of this context. Based on the understanding that the relationship between journalistic discourse and the social imaginary to which it is directed is not a passive relationship, this article sought to analyze the contents and discourses of a particular media vehicle that, despite being located in a regional context, recorded data from a significant moment for the Brazilian agro-business development during the “green revolution”. Created by Cotrijui in 1973, Cotrijornal was a business media vehicle for disseminating information and facts to members of that cooperative which, throughout the study period (1973-1993), became a large company in the agricultural and industrial sector, exercising economic influence at the national level and projecting itself internationally. We noticed that, throughout its development, Cotrijornal acquired larger proportions than those initially desired by its creators, changing its structure and objectives to serve a different class of readers. Even so, it remained faithful to the ideological principles of cooperative education, proposed since its first editions, to inform and train its social framework regarding agricultural development, in a context marked by the rise of technology and the exponential increase in productivity in the field. That is, to lead the subjects of a given social context in a process of profound social transformation, keeping in evidence a set of ideological parameters that determine, in turn, the very editorial objectives of that vehicle.
