A democratic look at child and adolescent education: comparative analysis of different methodologies adopted in the Youth Parliament and their results

Abstract

Since 1988, it has been inaugurated in a national context, through the Constitution promulgated this year a representative democracy that frames typical mechanisms of a participatory democracy, with the expansion of the possibility of direct interference by individuals in the political sphere and, consequently, in the social environment, which are inserted. However, even considering the efforts of the Brazilian legal system to encourage participation, what we see today is an opposite movement, of disinterest, contempt, discouragement to matters in political matters or even a lack of knowledge of constitutionally guaranteed  rights, making the concept of citizenship, in practice, barely palpable, with reduced effectiveness. Through this line of reasoning, projects aimed at the political formation of children and adolescents are observed in the current scenario, through different methodological practices, and the promotion of citizen action, highlighting, in this sense, the Young Parliament of São Paulo and Young Parliament of Minas projects. Using an indirect and bibliographic research, this article seeks to study both projects mentioned, in such a way that it becomes possible, at the end, to draw a parallel between both, comparing their positive and negative points, including the repercussions of its distinct characteristics on the results obtained by the project.
