promotion of aesthetic and therapeutic care for elderly people in the city of Castanhal-PA

Abstract

Aging is a continuous, complex process marked by countless physical and psychological transformations. Understanding this period of life and providing assistance to the elderly is necessary given the significant number of individuals who have reached old age in Brazil and around the world, a population that has great expectations of growth in the coming years. Thus, the objective of the present study is to report an intervention project that aimed to promote health in a group of elderly people, based on physical and aesthetic care. The university extension action was developed by academics from different health courses who promoted a moment of integration and an opportunity to check indicators of metabolic diseases, such as systemic arterial hypertension and glycemia, in addition to the application of aesthetic procedures, relaxation and activities physical. There was great acceptance on the part of the elderly to the proposed activities, making it possible for students to apply the knowledge obtained in the classroom and carry out, in addition to testing, counseling and guidance on the necessary care for disease prevention and maintenance. of health. Regarding aesthetic procedures, beautification activities contributed to improving the group's self-esteem, also contributing to the aspect of mental health. Therefore, initiatives of this nature must be encouraged and expanded, in order to guarantee the health and well-being of elderly people, guaranteeing their right to healthy aging and social inclusion.
