A leitura de Romeu e Julieta no Projeto ALEGRIA - Alfabetização e letramento Gerando Respeito, Inclusão e Autonomia

Abstract

This article aims to describe the development and application of a didactic-pedagogical sequence applied in the extension project ALEGRIA (Aprendizagem de leitura e escrita gerando respeito, inclusão e autonomia), a project of the Linguistics Course, together with the Post-Graduation, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas). The sequence of proposed activities is based on reading, listening and writing the book Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare. We aim to provide learning opportunities from classic literary works for adults with intellectual disabilities. In common sense, it is believed that people with intellectual disabilities, due to their intellectual and cognitive limitations, are not capable of learning. However, this experience report aims to highlight the learning capacity of these people, which is often silenced, through a teaching methodology anchored in the literature. For this, in the end, we expose the results obtained with the application of the classes, in which we observe advances in cognitive, emotional and social development, through more inclusive and enriching pedagogical practices, providing alternative approaches for the education of this public.
