Abstract

The text describes the use of a field diary, or study diary, as an analysis tool for a university extension program, the Paludicon. This program was developed under the aegis of historical-cultural theory, according to which play is a process that enhances human development. Elkonin's perspective is one of the main references. All the proposals portrayed refer to activities carried out with children within the scope of a university toy library. Based on the diaries, two cases are described, each representing an area of ​​activity. The first child belongs to a foster care institution; the other portrays Paludicon's proposals for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The activities carried out with both children value their potential and seek to redefine their being-in-the-world. The conclusion is that the university should recognize and value activities such as those carried out by Paludicon, not only for the education of university students, but also for the relevance that this extension program has in the construction of citizenship, starting in childhood.
