The purpose of this study is to understand what affects teleworker performance and identify criteria for its evaluation and management. An integrative review of the literature indexed between 1978 and 2021 in the EBSCO, Scopus, and Web of Science databases was conducted. As results concerning the teleworker and his performance, it was possible to identify the following categories: i) characterization of telework and teleworker performance; ii) factors of influence; iii) ways of evaluation; and iv) management modes. It is concluded that performance in telework is not restricted to the monitoring of processes and behaviors or the measurement of results, but encompasses variables that can motivate alternative work experiences. Sensitive to organizational and individual needs, the research outlined multiple aspects of the relationship between telework and performance, in order to subsidize the management of this relationship and to identify possible agendas for further investigation.
