“AS ONE READS ISAIAH BERLIN, ONE FEELS IN SAFE HANDS” a conversation with Henry Hardy
Main Article Content
Abstract
The political philosopher and historian of ideas Isaiah Berlin (1909-1997) is considered one of the leading intellectuals of the 20th century. Russian-Jewish-born British-naturalized, Berlin offers important contributions to the debates on freedom and value pluralism. As he was not a systematic writer, his work became widely known from the work of the British philosopher Henry Hardy (1949), who since the 1970s has been the main editor of the works of Isaiah Berlin. In this interview, originally published on the Estado da Arte website, of the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, on February 17, 2019, Hardy comments and interprets important topics addressed by Berlin and which remain highlighted in the contemporary debate.
