Abstract

The present paper has as its aims to debate about the curriculum and the adversities surrounding the discipline of Religious Education. Based on a theoretical research and a virtual form that aims to gauge responses of students and alumni of Basic Education regarding their relationship with Religious Education, we looked forward to discussing the challenges that Brazilian Basic Education finds when facing the pluralism of a society as vast as ours, which, despite surviving under a secular state, still faces much prejudice and bigotry. We also analyzed the role of the teacher in combating religious intolerance and how they have positioned themselves about the curriculum of the discipline.
