Abstract

Despite being one of the essential life behaviors for all species and a complex physiological state that cannot be avoided, the understanding of the need for sleep still falls short or is ignored by the vast majority. The reason for this apathy is partially due to science itself, for not divulging research on sleep, its advantages and its need. Therefore, this article aims to disseminate and provide updated information on the topic and on sleep disorders from childhood to the elderly. This article is based on a survey of empirical and theoretical studies published in national and international journals.
