EXPERIENCE REPORT OF THE PROJECT "MY BRAZIL, FROM CORNER TO CORNER, ENCHANTS": JUNE PARTIES
Abstract
This project, entitled “My Brazil, from corner to corner, enchants” was developed with two groups of Literacy for Young, Adult and Elderly, in the premises of the Educational Community Association Cícera Tereza dos Santos -ACECTS, where a large part of its audience is made up of elderly people, aged between 60 and 85 years old, most of whom have never attended a classroom. The respective Project was built with the objective of rescuing and extolling popular culture, highlighting the celebrations of June festivities. Since its inception, until the present day, these festivals have enriched our culture and kept alive the traditions in their pluralities, respecting the knowledge of the people. Considering that a large contingent of students comes from the northeast region of the country, it was expected that they would identify and get involved in the proposed activities, with great euphoria. The classes were built from discussions and a rich and effervescent dialogue in a conversation circle, where students shared their ideas and knowledge about the June Parties and what they wanted to learn about their state; thus, the following were worked: the northeastern states, their cuisine, the types of dance, the games, the expressive figures of great prominence in the music and culture of these regions and the saints worshiped. The issue of agriculture and planting was also addressed, as many students worked in the fields, especially in the planting and harvesting of corn, beans, fava beans, coffee, rice, and cotton. Thus, another factor was discussed: “economy.” The work in question enriched the literacy process, giving it greater meaning, sharpening, and awakening the will to know, interact, act, learn and apprehend, and gave greater emphasis and strengthening to the collective work of the students. Our starting and last point was Master Paulo Freire's Approach.
