Abstract

This study aims to describe the possible impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the social development of this age group, due to the adoption of social distancing measures that impact the mental health and behavior of children and adolescents. An integrative review was used as a method to carry out this work, which sought to dialogue with authors from different areas of knowledge who discuss child development, mental health, and the influences that these aspects possibly suffered during times of social distancing. The research was based on the scientific data platforms LILACS, SciELO, PubMed, ELSEVIER, NCBI, BVS, Acervo Mais, SpringerLink, J-Stage and Academic Google, including reading magazines, books, dissertations, and monographs. A total of 38 articles were found. It was found that the departure from the school routine and daily life caused changes in mood and behavior in children and adolescents, making it necessary to adopt strategies aimed at mitigating the impacts related to the social development of this age group. It was concluded that there is a need to direct financial, personal and management resources to ensure qualified care for families, in order to ensure adequate support for children and adolescents who are already diagnosed with mental disorders, as well as assistance in new cases.
