Abstract

Reading is present in different activities practiced in everyday life. Reading is essential for acquiring knowledge and its practice should be encouraged from an early age. The teacher, especially those who work with Early Childhood Education, must use reading strategies capable of attracting attention and demonstrating that the habit of reading can be pleasurable. Faced with this, this work aims to show the importance of reading not only in the teaching-learning process, but as an activity to be carried out throughout life. For this, the school and the family can contribute so that the student, from the initial grades, acquires the pleasure of reading, offering him several reading options. In the classroom, one of the options is storytelling, a simple activity where the teacher, through play, brings the child closer to the book, awakening creativity, imagination, and pleasure.
