The article is a review of the literature that aims to present a comparison between two approaches of psychology, Behavioral Cognitive Therapy (CBT), through the studies of Aaron Beck, and Positive Psychology, by the contribution of Martin Seligman, pointing out the main characteristics of each. To that end, a bibliographic survey was conducted through research on academic sites such as Google Academic, APA and Pepsic with the words "Positive Psychology" with combinations and additions of the words "well-being", "quality of life" and "treatment". For the comparison also the research with the word "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" was carried out with the addition of the same words from the previous research. From the analysis of the three articles and eleven selected books, the objective of this work is to present the main characteristics of these approaches in order to assist the clinical psychologist both in the care of healthy people and those with pathologies. CBT has a focus on the problem, that is, illness, its concern is in the formations of cognitions to promote the changes of the automatic thoughts and, consequently, of the emotions and dysfunctional behaviors. Positive Psychology is focused on maintaining and expanding well-being, that is, on health prevention, using as a source of work the identification of individual strengths and virtues. The concern to have a complete approach has brought the development of methodologies seek to unify it. Within this context, it can be seen that the combination of both can contribute to the psychologist being able to adapt his way of working and attending to the human being in his completeness, that is, not only when he presents pathologies, but also in the absence of these, that is, in the prevention and promotion of well-being.
