EXPECTATION x REALITY: POSSIBILITIES FOR EMERGENCY REMOTE EDUCATION AT ESCOLA AMARELA

Abstract

This article deals with the possibilities of Remote Emergency Education (ERE) in a Municipal School in the northern region of the city of Belo Horizonte.  ERE was proposed on a compulsory basis due to the current pandemic situation caused by Covid-19 and causing schools to close to prevent contamination and spread of the disease.  As a result, teachers and students had to reinvent themselves in the face of new forms of teaching and learning.  The article was prepared based on an internship with the teachers of the ninth year of that school and who instigated to deepen the knowledge of this reality.  The theoretical framework was used to support the research, although the theme is contemporary, there are quality materials that discuss the role of technology and the internet in education and the role of the teacher, mediator in the use of these.  The field research was carried out with an interview with the coordination to get to know the reality of the students a little more and we had access to some responses from the Socio-Educational Map carried out by the institution with the identification of 94% of the students said they have cell phones, however, only 54% say have good internet.  And finally, the survey with seven volunteer teachers who answered a semi-structured questionnaire and collaborated to promote the possibilities of Emergency Remote Education.  Difficulties were perceived between communication in which teachers speak, organize tasks and do not receive answers or feedback from students.  The need to help adolescents with autonomy and self-responsibility skills to understand the new teaching format.
